FLEET WEEK
Save the date for the Intrepid Museum’s Fleet Week celebration! In recognition of our men and women in uniform, the Intrepid Museum celebrates Fleet Week from May 24 – 27, 2024! Fleet Week activities will kick off Friday, May 24, with our annual free movie night on the flight deck, featuring Top Gun: Maverick.
Throughout the weekend, enjoy musical performances and explore a variety of displays, activities, and demos from the military, including the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Office of Naval Research and many more! The weekend will conclude on Monday, May 27, with the Museum’s annual Memorial Day ceremony.
All activities on the pier are free to the public.

7:00pm | Free Movie Night: Flight Deck
The Intrepid Museum’s summer movie series kicks off Memorial Day Weekend, Friday, May 24, with a free screening of Top Gun: Maverick! Enjoy views of the Hudson River and city skyline while screening the classic film on the flight deck.
Guests are invited to bring lawn chairs, picnic baskets and blankets to view the film outdoors, free of charge, on a huge inflatable screen on the flight deck. Seating is available on a first-come, first-served basis and space is limited. Light concessions will be sold onsite, and visitors are encouraged to bring their own food and non-alcoholic beverages. Alcohol is NOT permitted. All exits are final; there is no re-entry allowed. Doors open at 7:00 pm. The movie will begin at sunset. Learn more.

Visitors can tour the USCGC Sturgeon Bay (WTGB 109) the newest of the United States Coast Guard 140-foot (43 m) Bay-class cutters.

U.S. Coast Guard: The world premier Maritime service, in Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement, Environmental Response and many other missions. Meet our Coast Guard divers and see them in action in our interactive dive tank. See our Mobile Communication Vehicle – There’re only 3 of them in the Coast Guard, it provides satellite network connectivity, tactical radio communications, and can be deployed anywhere in the world to support communications.
U.S. Coast Guard Dive Training Tank: Divers have the opportunity to conduct a wide variety of training for proficiency and to meet some certification requirements. This provides more flexibility and a safer training environment for a more effective use of the crawl, walk, run methodology, while also minimizing safety risks because training can be conducted in a controlled environment. Dive Training Tank allows for the active participation of all personnel in training; not only the divers in the tank, but also those observing, monitoring, and directing the training through the clear side of the tank. Visitors will also be able to observe the training through this clear side of the tank.
U.S. Marine Corps: The Marines are here! Make your time at FWNY count and get ready for an immersive experience with the U.S. MARINES! Try on their gear, camouflage yourself at the cami paint station, see their tactical vehicles on display, and learn more about what it takes to stand among The Few. Remember to leave your mark and participate in the Marines chalk art project.
U.S. Air Force: Come soar through the sky with our virtual reality flight simulators, test your physical strength on the WunderWall, and learn what it takes to become an Airman or Guardian. Aim High…Fly, Fight, Win!
U.S. Army: Join the U.S. Army for some light fitness competitions, giveaways, robot demonstrations, and information on our career programs and educational benefits!
Naval STEM: The U.S. Naval Academy and the Naval STEM Coordination Office will be on hand with a seaperch underwater vehicle demonstration. Visitors will be able to compete in challenges, with several undersea vehicles that can be driven with a hand held remote tethered to the vehicles.
Intrepid Museum Activities: Enjoy workshops and hands-on activities from the Intrepid Museum all day long. Activities include morse code bracelets, designing your own rocket ship and learning how to tie nautical knots.
Intrepid Former Crew Members: Meet a former Intrepid crew member and learn about their time in service.
U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary: The Coast Guard Auxiliary is the volunteer component of the U.S. Coast Guard. As experts in boating safety and boating education, they work to ensure everyone has a safe and fun time on the water.
Naval Submarine League and Submarine Force Library & Museum: Visitors will engage in submarine-related hands-on activities using concepts of buoyancy, density, force and motion, and propulsion.
That Planetarium Guy: Join That Planetarium Guy on a journey through the science and stories that can be found in the night sky. Each show is approximately 15 minutes long.
Veterans Moving Forward:Veterans Moving Forward provides service, therapy, and emotional support dogs to veterans with physical and/or emotional challenges at no cost to the veteran or their family. Support dogs will be available to do some demonstrations throughout the weekend.
Epic Balloons: Learn how to make your very own balloon sword with award-winning balloon artist John Reid and take a photo in our EPIC pirate ship photo booth! Don't forget to tag us in your photos @epicballoons.
Warrior Bonfire Program: Provides opportunities that improve the lives of combat wounded Purple Heart recipients on their life-long journeys of recovery and healing through create activity based therapeutic adventure retreats. Visitors will participate in one of these activities that connect to the history of the American flag, the official Flag Code of 1923 which states that “the flag represents a living country and is itself considered a living thing,” and the ways to respectfully retire her when she is no longer serviceable for use.
LEGOLAND Discovery Center Westchester: Visitors will have the opportunity to see a master LEGO builder create a special piece for the collection. Children will also be able to create and build their own LEGO creations!
Navy Supply Corps Foundation: Provides programs and services to support the Navy Supply Corps community and promote its heritage and traditions. The Navy Supply Corps provides logistical, readiness, and personnel support to keep the US Navy fleet “Ready for Sea”. Visitors will learn more about these programs and will see live educational presentations on the significance of the Supply Corps and its impact on fleet readiness.
U.S. Naval Sea Cadet Corps: A nationwide, congressionally chartered, nonprofit youth organization sponsored by the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Coast Guard, serving children 10-17y/o. Visitors will compete in challenges and games with the sea cadets, learn about the program through demonstrations and tactical gear, and win some cool prizes.
MilitaryTransport Association: Visitors will see restored and antique military vehicles
Guide Dog Foundation/America’s VetDogs: For more than 75 years, the Guide Dog Foundation and America’s VetDogs have trained and placed guide dogs and service dogs to provide increased independence and enhanced mobility to individuals, including veterans and first responders, with disabilities. Visitors will learn more about service dog training through demonstrations and hands-on activities.
USO: Join the USO in honoring our brave service members by signing a flag and sending your heartfelt messages of gratitude. The USO provides a unique opportunity for you to connect with and support our armed forces in a meaningful way. Your signature on this flag will bring encouragement to those who protect our freedom. Stop by and help spread appreciation to those who serve.

Coca-Cola: Will delight attendees with a Coca-Cola Real Magic-inspired photo activation while highlighting their new premium sleek can and sampling.

American Red Cross: The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies and supports our military and veteran population through the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Visitors can write a note of thanks to a military member and learn hands-only CPR training.
National Coast Guard Museum: Supports Coast Guard missions by inspiring and engaging with the public to celebrate the service’s members and their accomplishments of the past, present and future. Visitors will also have the opportunity for a hands-on experience with an array of Coast Guard educational artifacts.

In its first official performances, the Jazz Combo sailed aboard CGC EAGLE in 1958 to South America, entertaining many high-level foreign dignitaries. Since then, the Jazz Combo has performed at many different locations around the country in support of the USCG and fellow DOD Service Branches. In its performances, the Jazz Combo plays all musical styles, ranging from selections of the Great American Songbook to Pop, Jazz and Rhythm and Blues.
12:00pm – 2:30pm: Operation Encore: A Veteran Music Project Presents Performances From Veterans: Jerry Maniscalco (U.S. Navy), Zack Sliver (U.S. Marine Corps) and Mike Ponder (U.S. Navy/U.S. Marine Corps)
Operation Encore is an organization that provides opportunities for veteran and active duty singer-songwriters and musicians to take their music to the next level through artist development, professional recording, and industry-focused educational services.

United States Army Drill Team: A precision drill platoon with the primary mission of showcasing and representing the United States Army both nationally and internationally through breathtaking routines with bayonet-tipped 1903 Springfield rifles. The U.S. Army Drill Team is officially part of the Headquarters Company, 4th Battalion, 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and they support the President of the United States, and The Old Guard’s ceremonial missions, and public duties for over 50 years.

10:00am | Memorial Day ceremony: Join us for a solemn ceremony honoring the men and women of the United States Armed Forces who have given their lives in defense of our nation. Civic and military leaders will offer remarks and join in a special wreath-laying ceremony in honor of the fallen. The ceremony concludes with a flyover by Navy fighter jets. (Location: Pier 86)
