29 APR Free Friday with Astronomy Night Friday April 29, 5:00pm – 9:00pm ET
The Museum will offer free admission on the last Friday of every month, from April- September! Enjoy tours and activities with Museum Educators, followed by special guest speakers. Local astronomers will be on hand with their high-powered telescopes to help visitors navigate the night sky.

Fleet Week activities will kick off Friday, May 27 with our annual movie night on the flight deck. Throughout the weekend, explore a variety of displays, activities and demos from the military, including the U.S. Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, and even some antique military vehicles. The weekend will conclude on Monday, May 30 with the Museum’s annual Memorial Day ceremony.

21 AUG Virtual Astronomy Live: NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope: First Science Images Sunday, August 21, 3:00pm – 5:00pm ET
NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, a partnership with ESA (European Space Agency) and the Canadian Space Agency (CSA), released its first full-color images and spectroscopic data on July 12, 2022. As the largest and most complex observatory ever launched into space, Webb went through a six-month period of preparation before it began science work, calibrating its instruments to its space environment and aligning its mirrors. This talk will explain Webb engineering, first science images, and future science goals.

30 SEP Free Friday with an Astronomy Night Friday, September 30, 5:00pm – 8:00pm ET
The museum will open to the public for free from 5:00pm – 9:00pm and will include a talk between Apollo 13 astronaut Fred Haise and former NASA astronaut Mike Massimino about Haise's new book Never Panic Early: An Apollo 13 Astronaut's Journey. Educational activities, demonstrations, and stargazing with local astronomers will also be available throughout the evening!

23 OCT Virtual Astronomy Live: Mission AstroAccess Sunday, October 23, 3:00pm – 5:00pm ET
AstroAccess is an initiative dedicated to advancing disability inclusion in space exploration. Zero Gravity Corporation (ZERO-G) successfully completed its first parabolic flight with a crew of 12 ambassadors with mobility, vision, and hearing disabilities in 2021. Hear from ambassadors from the program who will talk about the program, the first flight and the training they had. They will also give viewers a behind the scenes look into the next planned flight, November 2022.

05 NOV Intrepid Museum Family Day: Astronauts Aboard! Saturday, November 5, 1:00pm – 4:00pm ET
Join us at the Intrepid Museum for Family Day -- Astronauts Aboard! Learn all about space exploration by viewing the space shuttle orbiter Enterprise and the Museum’s artifacts. Featuring a special Betty Skelton: For All Womankind theatrical performance in the Space Shuttle Pavilion and hands-on STEAM activities all about an astronaut’s journey into space. Families are invited to explore the Museum on their own. Entry to the Museum is FREE with event pre-registration. Space-themed apparel encouraged!

Current and former service members and their families should pre-register separately for preferred entry and access to a special Military Family Luncheon.

11 NOV Annual Veterans Day Ceremony Friday, November 11, 3:30pm ET
The Intrepid Museum will pay tribute to our nation’s military service members on Veterans Day, featuring remarks and the laying of a commemorative wreath in Hudson River. The ceremony is open to all Museum visitors.

20 DEC Astro Live: Artemis After the Launch Sunday, December 18, 3:00pm – 5:00pm ET
On November 16, NASA launched the most powerful rocket in the world on its first test flight: Artemis I. The technology behind the Artemis program, which will ultimately land the first woman and first person of color on the Moon, is the result of cooperative efforts by a number of commercial partners, crowned by the Lockheed Martin-built Orion spacecraft.
